Porters are scarce: roughly 3 candidates may be available while 10+ fighters are available. The player adapts strategy around available Porters.
Amended D-307 They are scarce because it is the most dangerous job. The Porter carries the food, so creatures and rivals go for the Porter first. Few live long, and few will take the work. Amended D-371 It is also looked down on: Porters are almost always foreigners, and the Footfolk leave the work to them. The stigma is on the work; a Porter's height still counts (§36).
LOAD FIRST. HUMAN SECOND.
A Porter is an ordinary human beneath a rigid medieval load frame carrying grotesquely large cargo. Burden changes posture: forward lean, bent knees, wide stance, compressed shoulders, short stride. Frame materials: wood, iron, leather, rope, textile. Cargo should use a few large readable masses: food, water, chest, bedding, rope, tools, salvage, spare equipment.
HARD CANON: Porters carry no dedicated weapon and use no conventional magic.
Their battlefield utility comes from BODY + LOAD FRAME + PACKING GEOMETRY + CURRENT CARGO. Possible physical verbs include brace, swing, shove, drop and cover. These are not formal classes. A Porter may carry weapons as cargo while remaining unarmed. Some Porters may have no damaging action.
Cargo can act as accidental armor/cover, and Porter abilities may risk or consume valuable resources. Packing geometry should visually suggest gameplay tendencies.
